Continuing Opportunities…
“Listening to the Lessons” ~ Explore the Biblical text upon which the sermons are based. Listen, reflect, and share with one another in a casual but vibrant learning environment. Every Sunday at 9:00 AM and Wednesday at 6:15 PM.
Listening for God: Monthly Book Discussions ~ Love to read and discuss the book afterward? These enjoyable discussions will help you understand and appreciate the books you read. Discussions take place on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. Any questions, see Tracy Weatherhogg (775-4301 or tracy@grachchurchvt.org). All are welcome!
Women’s Small Group ~This group will be using the DVD series, Living the Questions 2.0, on Fridays at Grace Church in the Parlor from 9:30 -11:00 AM. Living the Questions 2.0 is an open-minded alternative to studies that attempt to give participants all the answers and instead strives to create an environment where participants can interact with one another in exploring what's next for Christianity. Contact Tracy Weatherhogg (775-4301) for more information.
Living the Questions, 2.0 - This DVD series will be offered in 7 week segments as it provides an opportunity to explore the basics of the Christian faith from the perspective with contemporary theologians, preachers, and teachers. A brief presentation will be followed by an opportunity for discussion. The class will be held on Wednesdays during our Mid-Week Program, from 6:15 - 7:00 PM. An additional class may be offered on Sundays after worship beginning at 11:45 PM if there is interest. For more information or to register, contact Diane Nelson, Chair of the Adult Spiritual Growth Committee (dsnjed@aol.com) or Tracy Weatherhogg (tracy@gracechurchvt.org/ 775-4301).
Book Discussion Group - Join us Monday evenings in the church library (the Barbara Mellow Room) from 7:00 - 8:30 PM as we read and discuss Brian D. McLaren’s book The Secret Message of Jesus - Uncovering the Truth that Could Change Everything. Quoted below is a brief description taken from the book jacket: “In The Secret Message of Jesus McLaren clears away the dust of two thousand years of the Christian religion to get to the most important questions facing Christendom: Could it be that the church has misunderstood or, in some cases, intentionally distorted Jesus’ core message? What if Jesus was right—but right in different ways than we ever realized? What if many of us have carried on a religion that somewhere along the way missed rich and radical treasures hidden in the essential message of Jesus of Nazareth? McLaren calls us to look hard, think deeply, and search along with him...even if the answers overturn our conventional ideas, priorities, and practices.” Books are available through the Church Office and on Sunday mornings for $15. Any questions, contact John Weatherhogg (775-4301).
